Ethan’s love for racing took hold early. He was once the youngest driver in the country racing in the pro shifter category of karting. Showcasing his natural ability in testing Formula cars, he’s been personally selected by Dan Mitchell at Velocity Racing Development (VRD) to be their star driver in the 2026 USF Pro Championship.
I’m Ethan Booher, a focused and passionate 17-year-old racing driver from the wide-open skies of Montana. Inspired by my father’s career as a fighter pilot, I bring that same discipline and drive to the track, pushing limits with purpose.
I may have gotten a late start in motorsports, but that only makes me push harder every time I hit the track. Every lap is a chance to get better and I’m chasing every opportunity to make it count.
When I’m not in the car, I’m out on the trails in my hometown of Montana with my pup, working on fitness and staying focused for the next race. Montana’s beauty keeps me grounded and ready for the challenge ahead.
I began my journey in karting, progressing through the ranks and eventually competing in shifter karts. At one point, I was the youngest driver in the country racing in the pro shifter category. My performances helped build a strong reputation within the GFC Karting community, where I also formed a lasting relationship with Gary Carlton and his team – one of the most respected names in U.S. karting.
I completed multiple tests with DEForce Racing, each of which went extremely well and confirmed my readiness to step into Formula cars.
My first test with VRD was a major breakthrough – everything clicked. After several more successful sessions, Dan Mitchell offered me a seat, expressing confidence that I have the potential to win a championship. I’m proud to have earned the respect of the entire VRD team for both my performance and my work ethic.
In a test at Road Atlanta – a track I had never driven – I matched and then beat the lap times of a second-year USF driver with over 100 hours of experience. I had fewer than 10 hours in the car, which made that result even more meaningful and reaffirmed my belief that I belong at the front.
